SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NEPALESE STUDENTS

 

1. Institute of Medicine (IOM)

Every year Institute of Medicine (IOM) provides about 45 MBBS, 10 BSc.Nursing and many scholarships in Paramedical courses to Meritorious Nepalese students. The selection of students is done on the basis of merit list of IOM Entrance Examination. Out of total scholarships awarded by IOM, 80% seats are open for all and 20% seats are reserved.

MBBS Scholarship seat distribution in IOM:
A. General Category: 36 seats
B. Underprivileged Group Scholarships (Reserved): 9 Seats
a. Women: 1 seat
b. Janajati: 1 seat
c. Madheshi: 1 seat
d. Dalit: 1 seat
e. Handicapped: 1 seat
f. Remote District: 1 seat
g. Tharu: 1 seat
h. Others: 1 seat

BSc. Nursing Scholarship seat distribution in IOM:
A. General Category: 11 seats for Female & 2 seats for Male
B. Underprivileged Group Scholarships (Reserved): 3 Seats

Other Program Scholarships:

B Optom- 5 open & 1 reserved; BASLP- 4 open; B Pharm- 14 open & 3 reserved; BPH (+2 stream)- 13 open & 3 reserved; BPH (PCL Health)- 11 open & 3 reserved; BSc. 2. Ministry of Education (MOE)

Every year Ministry of Education (MOE) provides about 220 MBBS Scholarships (55% General and 45% Reserved quota) and about 50 BDS (55% General and 45% Reserved quota) in different Medical and Dental colleges in Nepal and abroad.

Note: Out of tolal seats, 55% of the scholarship seats are allocated for General Category and 45% of the scholarship seats are reaserved for the candidates from Underprivileged (Bipanna) Community. In order to claim seats under reserved category, candidate must have passed SLC from Community / Government School.

Considering 45% as 100%, the seats are divided as follows:

1. For the candidates from Underprivileged (Bipanna) Community: 25% 

a. Madhesi: 20% (out of 20% seats, 3% seats are reserved for Madhesi Dalit)

b. Muslim: 2%

c. Family member of Disappread (Bepatta) and Martyrs (Sahid) or Hurt / Injured (Ghaite) or their child: 3%

2. Women: 33% (out of 33% seats, 3% seats are reserved for Dalit Women & 2% seats for Muslim Women)

3. Handicapped: 2%

4. Janajati: 27%

5. Dalit: 9%

6. Remote District: 4%

 

A. MOE Scholarships in different Private Medical and Dental colleges in Nepal (TU & KU)

MBBS: In the year 2075/2076 Ministry of Education provided 118 scholarships for MBBS in Tribhuvan University (TU) affiliated colleges and 107 scholarships for MBBS in Kathmandu University (KU) affiliated colleges.

BDS: In the year 2075/2076 Ministry of Education has provided 20 Scholarship seats for BDS for the Tribhuvan University (TU) Constituent and Affiliated colleges and around 28 scholarships for BDS in Kathmandu University (KU) Constituent and Affiliated colleges.

B. Sc. Nursing: In the year 2073/2074 Ministry of Education has provided 21 Scholarships for B. Sc. Nursing for the Tribhuvan University (TU) affiliated colleges and about 7 seats for the Kathmandu University (KU) affiliated colleges.

 

B. MOE Scholarships in Pakistan through MOE

Every year Pakistan Government provides about 10 Scholarships for MBBS and 1 BDS Scholarship for meritorious Nepalese students. Selection is done by Ministry of Education (MOE) on the basis of merit list of IOM Entrance Examination. Students must have to secured 60% in aggregate in their +2 examination in order to apply for the Scholarship provided by Pakistan Embassy in Nepal.

 

C. MOE Scholarships in Russia through MOE

Every year Russian Federation provides about 5 Scholarship Seats for MBBS and BDS program for meritorious Nepalese students through Ministry of Education. Selection is done by Ministry of Education (MOE) on the basis of merit list of IOM Entrance Examination. Students have to secure 80% aggregate in their +2 examination in order to apply for the Scholarship provided by Russian Federation in Nepal. Since the teaching medium in Russia is Russian Language, Students have to take Language classes too.

 

D. MOE Scholarships in Egypt through MOE

Every year Egypt Government provides about 3 Scholarship Seats for those students who want to study Medicine  in Egypt. Selection is done by Ministry of Education (MOE) on the basis of merit list of IOM Entrance Examination. Students have to secure 70% aggregate in their +2 examination in order to apply for the Scholarship provided by Egypt Government.

 

E. MOE Scholarship in China through MOE

Every year Chinese Government provides various numbers of Scholarship seats for MBBS and BDS program. Selection is done by Ministry of Education (MOE) on the basis of merit list of IOM Entrance Examination. Students have to take language classes as the medium of teaching in China is Chinese. The Application date to apply for Scholarship is October / November.

 

3. BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS)

In the year 2075 BPKIHS provided about 29 Heavily Subsidized MBBS scholarships. For BDS program, the number of Heavily Subsidized Scholarship seats was about 8.

4. Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS)

In the year 2075 PAHS provided about 10 MBBS Full Scholarships and 16 partial Scholarships to the meritorious Nepalese students. Selection is based on the merit list of PAHS Entrance Examination.

5. Embassies which Provides Scholarships directly (Not through MOE)

Every year different countries provide Scholarship seats through their Embassies for Nepalese Students to pursue their Medical and Dental career in Abroad. There are various embassies in Nepal that has been providing such service. Some of them are:-

Bangladesh Embassy

Every year Bangladesh Government provides about 20 MBBS and 3 BDS Scholarship seats for meritorious Nepalese students. Selection is done on the basis of marks obtained in SLC and +2.

Japanese Embassy

Every year Japan Government provides about 1-2 MBBS Scholarship for Nepalese students. Students have to participate in Examination which is taken by Japanese Embassy and selection is done on the basis of marks in the Entrance Examination. Students must have to secure 75% aggregate in SLC and +2 in order to apply for the Scholarship. Date of Entrance Exam: In the month of July. Indian Embassy

Every year Embassy of India in Nepal provides few MBBS Scholarships to Nepalese students. Students have to participate in NEET Exam Conducted in India. Student selection is done on the basis of marks obtained in NEET Exam. 

 

6. MP Jagadamba Guthi

Every year MP Jagadamba Guthi has been providing MBBS scholarships 1 for  male and 1 for female in a reputed medical college in Calcutta, India. Selection is done on the basis of the examination held by them. The examination pattern would be PCB- subjective/objective and a Nepali essay and will be held in Baisakh. Student must qualify in NEET Exam conducted in India in order to be eligible for JMPG Entrance Exam.
