Medical Education In Bangladesh

Bangladesh, being the ultimate destination away from home for Nepalese medical students, provides a quality medical education to each and every new medical aspirant. Colleges are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) & are affiliated with a university on the respective region.

Out of 96 recognized medical colleges in Bangladesh, 60 are private, 30 are public & 6 are run by the Bangladesh Armed Forces (under the Ministry of Defense). All the medical colleges award the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and/or Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) degree.

Most of the colleges are recognized by Nepal Medical Council (NMC), Medical Council of India (MCI) and are listed in World Health Organization (WHO), Directory of Medical Schools.

Bangladesh government has published notice for Application Form Submission for MBBS and BDS study under scholarship and paying quota in different Medical and Dental Colleges in Bangladesh for academic session 2020/21

Key Dates:

1. Last Date of Application Form Submission (For Scholarship): 28th Feb, 2021

2. Last Date of Application Form Submission (For Scholarship): 31st March, 2021 

Students willing to study MBBS / BDS in Bangladesh must submit this application form.
Valid Passport is an Essential document for Form Submission.

Note: Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu usually sets the deadline 1 week prior to above deadline.


Am I Eligible to Study MBBS & BDS in Bangladesh?

Eligibility criteria:

  • SEE or equivalent examination passed not before 2017
  • +2 or equivalent examination passed not before 2019
  • Minimum aggregate GPA in SEE or equivalent (plus) +2 or equivalent= 8.00 (scholarship)
  • Minimum aggregate GPA in SEE or equivalent (plus) +2 or equivalent= 7.00 (Paying)
  • Minimum GPA either in SEE or equivalent or in +2 or equivalent= 3.5
  • Minimum GPA in biology= 3.5 ( minimum 59.5%)


How to calculate my GPA?

Calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in SEE or equivalent:

Consider marks obtained in top 5 subjects only (subjects in which you have scored higher marks). 

GPA in SEE or equivalent = (sum of Grade point of top five subjects) ÷ 5


Calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in +2 or equivalent:

Consider marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology only. 

GPA in +2 or equivalent = (sum of Grade Points in PCB) ÷ 3

Now, Total GPA= (GPA in SEE) + (GPA in +2)

  • Candidate must have passed entrance exam conducted by  TU (IOM), KU, BPKIHS or PAHS (Patan). Entrance Exam Result is valid upto 2 years

  • Get NOC letter from Ministry of Education, Nepal
  • Send tuition fee through TT/ Swift in the name of college
